On the roles of false belief and recalcitrant fear in anorexia nervosa

چکیده

The DSM-5 highlights two essential psychological features of anorexia nervosa (AN): recalcitrant fear gaining weight and body image disturbance. Prominent accounts grant false beliefs about shape a central role in the explanation AN behavior. In this article, we propose stronger emphasis on fear. We show that such can explain behavior without intermediary belief, thus associated explanatory burdens conceptual difficulties. illustrate how shifting from belief to supplement number different non-doxastic models AN.
